Jay-Z tops Grammy nominations, snub for Timberlake

Veteran rapper Jay-Z topped nominees for the 2014 Grammys with nine nods, while Taylor Swift and Daft Punk were also among those in the running in major categories.
But Jay-Z other major stars including Justin Timberlake failed to score any nominations in the major categories, which saw a mixture of rap and pop in the running for the top honors at music's equivalent of the Oscars next month. In second place with seven nods apiece were California hip hop star Kendrick Lamar and rapper Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, as well as Justin Timberlake and Pharrell Williams, while rapper Drake scored five.
The nominees in key categories were announced during an hour-long concert at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, including video-link performances by Swift from Australia and Katy Perry live from Canada.


"This year's nominations reflect the talented community of music makers who represent some of the highest levels of excellence and artistry of the year in their respective fields," said Neil Portnow head of Grammys organizers The Recording Academy.
In the coveted Record of the Year category songstress Swift's "Red" will compete with French electro duo Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories," Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's "The Heist," Lamar's "Good Kid, M.A.A.D City" and Sara Bareilles "The Blessed Unrest." Record Of The Year candidates are Daft Punk & Williams' ubiquitous "Get Lucky," New Zealand teenager Lorde's "Royals," "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons, Hawaiian crooner Bruno Mars' "Locked Out Of Heaven" and Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," made infamous by Miley Cyrus' twerking at the MTV Video Music Awards show.
Shortlisted for Song of the Year -- for songwriters, as opposed to performers -- were "Just Give Me A Reason" sung by Pink Featuring Nate Ruess; "Locked Out Of Heaven" sung by Bruno Mars; "Roar" sung by Katy Perry; "Royals" sung by Lorde, and "Same Love" sung by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis was also nominated for Best New Artist, up against James Blake, Kendrick Lamar, Kacey Musgraves and Ed Sheeran.
While big-hitters Jay-Z and Timberlake scored lots of nods, they were mostly in rap and pop/R &B categories respectively. Neither the rapper's heavily marketed "Magna Carta .. Holy Grail," nor Timberlake's "The 20/20 Experience" made it onto the Best Album shortlist. The 56th annual Grammys show -- music's version of the Oscars -- will be held on January 26 at the Staples Center.
Whereas in previous years megastars like Britain's Adele have been nominated in most of the key categories -- and went on to a clean sweep of six Grammys last year -- there appears little likelihood of an all-conquering act next month. Industry journal Variety said Friday's nominations made "for a wide-open race with no clear favorite and few megastars in the running for top honors at the music biz’s January kudofest." In fact Adele did secure one nomination Friday: in the Best Song for Visual Media category, for "Skyfall," the theme tune to the last James Bond movie.
Other Britons shortlisted included veteran icon David Bowie, who won a Best Rock Album nod for "The Next Day," his surprise first release in a decade in March, triggering ecstasy among older fans and arguably showing some younger stars how to do it.

AKHIRNYA, BLACK DAN ISTERI DEDAH PENIPU PERKAHWINANNYA

Pun begitu, semakin Black mendiamkan diri, Admin mendapat tahu penipu tersebut semakin berani dan terus meluaskan empayer penipuan terhadap pasangan pengantin yang lain. Oleh kerana itu, pada hujung minggu lalu, Black dan isterinya telah mendedahkan individu yang menipunya itu di laman Instagram milik masing-masing. Menerusi pendedahan tersebut, mangsa penipu itu difahamkan adalah mangsa si penipu yang ke 100.
Manakala penipu itu adalah pemilik nama Moment Cinta. Menurut sumber Admin, tujuan Black mendedahkan nama penipu tersebut bukanlah ingin membalas dendam sebaliknya dia tidak mahu penipu itu terus menipu pasangan lain yang ingin membina mahligai bahagia. Apa sekalipun, Admin masih lagi tidak tahu siapakah sebenarnya individu yang berada disebalik nama Moment Cinta. Jika benar Moment Cinta menipu, kenapa dia masih lagi terus aktif menipu pasangan pengantin yang lain?
Tidakkah pihak tertentu sepatutnya mengambil tindakan? Setahu Admin, Black juga telah pun membuat laporan polis. Apapun, seperti kata Black, berhati-hati dengan sesiapa saja yang mengaku dia adalah perunding perkahwinan. Selidik lebih dalam kerana penipu selalunya sangat licik.

DIHEBAHKAN BERCINTA, TASHA SHILLA-HEN CHEN DAH TEMPAH BAJU KAHWIN?

Sebaik saja Admin  menyiarkan cerita mengenai keintiman pelakon Tasha Shilla bersama peninju Muay Thai bernama Hen Chen, Admin tidak pula mendengar pengakuan daripada mereka sama ada hubungan tersebut hanya kawan saja atau pun ke arah kekasih.

Namun, Admin mendapat tahu, baik Tasha dan Hen Chen, mereka tidak kisah tentang tanggapan tersebut. Senang cerita, hanya mereka saja yang tahu hubungan mereka itu. Apapun, Admin dengar cerita lagi, Tasha telah membuat pengakuan rasmi bahawa dia sudah pun pergi menempah baju kahwinnya dengan Hen Chen dari pereka fesyen terkenal Ezuwan Ismail. Pun begitu, selepas merisik lebih dalam lagi, baju kahwin yang ditempahnya itu bukannya baju pengantin seperti yang dibayangkan peminat.

Rupa-rupanya, Tasha dan Hen Chen telah menempah baju dari Ezuwan untuk mereka hadiri majlis perkahwinan Rozita Che Wan dan Zain Saidin. Apa sekalipun, melihat kemesraan gambar mereka berdua, Admin  merasakan mereka amat serasi. Bagai pinang di belah dua katanya. Yang penting, mesti masa wedding Che Ta nanti, Tasha dan Hen Chen jadi buruan media untuk ketahui hubungan sebenar mereka. Tup tup mereka umum majliskahwin pula.

CRISTINA SUZANNE BAKAL TANGGUH KAHWIN TAHUN HADAPAN

Pelakon, Cristina Suzanne akui bakal menangguhkan perkahwinannya yang sepatutnya telah dirancang untuk diadakan pada 22 Januari 2014. Cristina Suzanne yang kurang selesa saat ditanya mengani soal peribadinya berkata dia terpaksa menangguhkan perkahwinannya kerana masalah banjir yang teruk melanda kampong halamannya di Pahang.
“Sebenarnya, saya terpaksa menangguhkan perkahwinan kami kerana masalah banjir. Namun masih belum ada tarikh baru lagi untuk majlis kahwin kami. Tak tahu lagi sama ada dalam tahun hadapan atau tidak. “Apa-apa pun, saya rasa tak perlu saya ulas lanjut mengenai hal peribadi saya kerana lebih baik orang tahu mengenai kerjaya saya sahaja,” katanya kepada Admin .
Pelakon filem KIL itu ditemui selepas sidang media mengenai Festival Filem Asia Pasifik ke-56 (APFF-56) yang diadakan di Auditorium P. Ramlee, Perbadanan Kemajuan Filem Nasional (Finas), semalam. Cris telah selamat bertunang pada Oktober lalu tanpa pengetahuan media. Menjelaskan mengenai pendiriannya, Cristina memberitahu dia tidak selesa cerita mengenai tunangnya dan biarlah dia perkenalkan lelaki yang bertahta dihatinya itu selepas mereka selamat bernikah.
“Gambar dan cerita orang tahu mengenai saya dah tunang pun dari laman sesawang dan saya rasa lebih baik saya punya ruang dan privacy saya sendiri. “Saya kurang gemar nak bercerita mengenai siapa kekasih saya, kerana lebih istimewa saya perkenalkan dirinya ketika hari perkahwinan saya,” jelasnya lagi. Sementara itu, Cris turut berbangga apabila dia dapat mewakili Malaysia sebagai sebahagian delegasi ke APFF56 pada 15 Disember ini.
“Ini pertama kali saya akan ke festival filem terbesar sebegini. Bangga juga apabila terpilih lebih-lebih lagi mewakili filem pertama saya iaitu KIL,” ceritanya. Dalam perkembangan lain Cris bakal muncul dalam filem CEO, Tujuh dan Jwanita pada tahun 2014.

JOVIAN MANDAGIE SAH BERGELAR ABANG IPAR DAFI!

Pereka fesyen popular, Jovian Mandagie akhirnya selamat bergelar suami kepada Nina Sabrina Ismail Sabri di Balai Rong Seri, Muzium Istana Negara sekitar jam 5:40 petang tadi.

Majlis akad nikah telah disempurnakan oleh bapa dan wali pengantin perempuan, Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob sambil disaksikan oleh Penolong Pendaftar Nikah Istana Negara, Ustaz Nik Riduan. Dengan hanya sekali lafaz, Jovian telah menghadiahkah Nina dengan seutas gelang emas sebagai mas kahwin pernikahan. Jovian telah menyerahkan 11 hantaran termasuk senaskah Al-Quran, manakala Nina telah menghadiahkan 13 hantaran kepada suaminya.

Kesemua hantaran disimpan dalam peti kayu khas dan ditutup rapat serta dihias indah. Majlis telah disempurnakan dalam suasana penuh sederhana dan wajah ceria kedua-dua belah pihak pengantin.

Witness:"No Explosion", Just QuietAfter Helicopter Crashes Into Pub In Scotland.

The helicopter, carrying two police officers and a civilian pilot, crashed on the roof of 

the pub at 10:25 p.m., according to Scottish police.

A police helicopter crashed into the roof of a pub crowded with Friday-night revelers in the Scottish city of Glasgow, causing a chaotic scene as patrons ran out and first-responders rushed in. There were no immediate official reports of casualties, but witnesses reported seeing people who appeared injured running from The Clutha pub after the crash. 

 "I know there were a lot of people lying on the ground kind of getting looked into," said Christina O'Neill, who lives across the street from the pub. Pictures posted to social media showed a number of fire trucks, police cars and ambulances surrounding the one-story building, with the remnants of the helicopter wreckage visible from above. 

 The helicopter, carrying two police officer and a civilian pilot, crashed on the roof of the pub at 10:25 p.m. local time, Scottish police said. "Basically I heard what sounded like a plane going too low, and I thought that didn't sound right for a couple of seconds," O'Neill said. "Then I just heard a massive crash...I looked out to the car park and thought it might have been just a car crash. It does sound quite devastating at the moment."

The crash occurred as patrons listened to the self-styled ska band Esperanza, which had taken the stage at the pub a short time earlier. Grace Maclean and a friend were inside the pub listening to the band when the crash occurred.
"We were watching the band and there was kind of like a (roof) panel fell, there was a whoosh of dust, then we laughed that the band said, 'We didn't think we were going to bring the roof down,'" she said. "...The roof didn't come down. ...It didn't come completely down anyway." Maclean said she was sitting at the back of the bar next to an older man, who suffered a cut on his head from the debris when crash occurred. "Everyone was really confused and scared," she said.
 "No one had a clue. There was no explosion. No bang. It was really quiet. There is no fire," she said. The noise came after the crash, when people began calling out for friends. "Everyone was yelling (for) their friends, but everyone seemed to find everyone," Maclean said. O'Neill, who saw the crash from her apartment across the street, said after the sound of impact, she saw smoke and people running.
 On the Facebook page of the band Esperanza, a post indicates the band members all made it out of the club. "It seems that the band are all OK. Not so sure about everyone else," it said.

Hours after the crash, the helicopter -- bearing the word "police" on its damaged tail -- was still smoldering. "I can confirm that it is a police helicopter which has been involved in the tragic accident in Glasgow," the head of the Scottish government, Alex Salmond, said in a post on his official Twitter account.
In another post, he said: "Rescue efforts in full operation. Given an incident of this scale we must all prepare ourselves for the likelihood of fatalities." A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service told CNN that there were "multiple ambulances and a special operations team on site." Gordon Smart, editor of The Scottish Sun, took to Twitter after apparently witnessing the crash. "Jesus.
 Think I just saw a helicopter crash in Glasgow," he tweeted. In another post, he said: "This is genuinely horrible. Spare a thought for those involved. Terrifying experience. Thought it was going to land on me." The Clutha's Facebook page contained numerous posts from people concerned about the incident. "Stay with it everybody, now is the time to think of others," wrote one person.
 "People need help." British Prime Minister David Cameron also tweeted about the situation. "My thoughts are with everyone affected by the helicopter crash in Glasgow -- and the emergency services working tonight," he said.

Sharnaaz Ahmad: Keputusan Johan Karma Buat Shila.

Pagi semalam peminat hiburan tanah air dikejutkan dengan berita sebuah akhbar mengenai pengakuan pelakon kesayangan ramai Johan As'ari dan pelakon seksi Lana Nordin, benar mereka sedang bercinta. Malah Johan mengakui telah melamar aktres yang popular jolokan Pamela Anderson Malaysia itu selepas tiga hari perkenalan.

Seiring dengan berita hangat tersebut, timbul cerita satu pihak yang lain iaitu penyanyi Shila Amzah dikatakan meluahkan kekecewaan di laman sosial Twitter dan Instagram. Maklumlah, sebelum ini timbul gosip mendakwa dia dan Johan punya hubungan istimewa. Meskipun kedua-duanya tidak pernah mengaku, namun kemesraan mereka jelas terpampang pada gambar-gambar yang dimuatkan di Instagram.

Di satu pihak lain pula, pelakon Sharnaaz Ahmad atau lebih tepat, bekas teman lelaki Shila tidak menyifatkan apa yang berlaku ke atas Shila sebagai satu hukum karma atau balasan. Sebaliknya hero drama Bukan Kerana Aku Tak Cinta itu memilih untuk tidak mahu mengambil tahu lagi apa saja yang berkaitan dengan penyanyi yang popular dengan lagu Patah Seribu itu.

"Kalau nak kata karma..., saya pernah muat naik ayat di instagram saya dulu, "Karma takes too long, I'd rather just beat the crap out of you now. "Jadi saya tak mahu komen apa-apa. Saya pun tak ambil tahu lagi apa-apa. Entahlah. Saya pun tak tahu nak cakap apa. Jujur, saya tahu fasal berita tu pun dari pengurus saya pagi tadi (semalam).

"Dulu, saya pernah cakap pasal batu. Batu yang hitam kalau selalu dicuci lama-lama akan putih. Orang selalu cakap kebenaran tu lama-lama akan keluar juga. Tapi kita boleh ker terima ke kebenaran tu? Hari ni mungkin hari dia (Shila)", ujarnya dengan nada sinis ketika diminta mengulas mengenai isu tersebut. Sharnaaz berkata demikian sewaktu ditemui pada sidang media drama bersiri terbaru Astro, Bukan Kerana Aku Tak Cinta, di sebuah hotel di ibu negara, petang semalam.

Bagaimanapun Sharnaaz berharap agar Shila dapat menerima berita tersebut dengan tenang. "Jodoh tu Tuhan yang tentukan. Tapi Kalau kita tak cari, Tuhan takkan hantar dari langit. Jadi kita pun kena lah cari. Mungkin ini usaha dia kot. Tapi nampaknya tak menjadi.

 Jadi dia cari lah orang lain", kata Sharnaaz lagi. Dalam pada itu Sharnaaz turut memberitahu hubungannya dan Johan tidak mempunyai sebarang masalah. "Saya dengan Johan okay. KUALA LUMPUR: Media Britain, The Independent semalam melaporkan bahawa pemimpin kumpulan Maoist, Aravindan Balakrishnan atau lebih dikenali sebagai ‘Komrad Bala’ yang didakwa telah menjadikan ketiga-tiga wanita sebagai hamba selama 30 tahun telah dikatakan mengaku dirinya sebagai ‘Nabi Isa’.

Sementara itu, akhbar Britain, The Telegraph dan Daily Mail melaporkan salah seorang dari wanita yang dijadikan mangsa perhambaan itu, Josephine Herivel, 57, dari Ireland merupakan anak kepada seorang pakar Matematik negara tersebut, John Herivel yang turut bertanggungjawab menjadi instrumen kepada Tentera Berikat dalam memecahkan beberapa kod rahsia tentera Nazi ketika Perang Dunia Kedua.

 Sebagai ‘Nabi Isa’, beliau telah menggesa pengikutnya dalam kumpulan itu supaya menyerahkan segala ribuan wang Pound Sterling dengan alasan untuk digunakan sebagai tujuan ‘perjuangan’ kumpulan tersebut. Dalam pada itu, harapan Kamarmahtum Abdul Wahab, untuk bertemu dengan adiknya, Siti Aishah yang menjadi mangsa kepada aktiviti perhambaan selama 30 tahun di London akhirnya tercapai.

Ini apabila beliau dibawa ke sebuah lokasi yang didedahkan oleh pihak polis Britain, Scotland Yard dan untuk kali pertamanya dalam beberapa dekad, mereka berjaya ditemukan. Perkara tersebut disahkan oleh Pesuruhjaya Tinggi Malaysia, Datuk Seri Zakaria Sulong kepada kepada Editor Majalah Astro Awani, Zan Azlee Zainal Abidin yang turut sama dalam misi menjejak Siti Aishah Abdul Wahab di kota London.

Zan Azlee juga merupakan anak saudara kepada Siti Aishah Abdul Wahab. Dalam catatan terkini blog, ‘tukartiub.blogspot.com' milik aktivis politik, Hishamuddin Rais yang turut mengikuti perjalanan menjejak Siti Aishah pula memberitahu bahawa “Pegawai polis, Neil Hamilton akan menerima surat dari cikgu Kamar. Ini akan dilakukan di kedutaan. Surat ini untuk disampaikan kepada adiknya, Siti Aishah”.

Siti Aishah adalah salah seorang daripada tiga wanita yang dibebaskan pada 25 Oktober lalu selepas salah seorang daripada mereka menghubungi pertubuhan kebajikan. Dua lagi wanita terbabit ialah warga Ireland berumur 57 tahun dan warga Britian, 30 tahun.

Akhirnya Kamarmahtum Jumpa Siti Aishah

LONDON: Pesuruhjaya Tinggi Malaysia Datuk Seri Zakaria Sulong mengesahkan Kamarmahtum Abdul Wahab telah berjumpa dengan Siti Aishah di suatu lokasi rahsia. Perjumpaan selama setengah jam itu dilakukan di sebuah lokasi yang dirahsiakan oleh pihak Scotland Yard, dan ia merupakan perjumpaan pertama bersendirian di antara kedua-duanya.

Dalam pertemuan itu, Kamarmahtum meminta adiknya agar mengutus surat buat ahli keluarga yang masih diingatinya di Malaysia. Dalam pada itu, Zakaria turut memberi jaminan kepada Siti Aishah bahawa pihaknya akan memberi bantuan sewajarnya kepada wanita terbabit yang menjadi hamba di London selama 30 tahun.

Zakaria turut merakamkan ucapan terima kasih kepada pihak berkuasa Britain kerana telah memberi kerjasama dan bantuan dalam mengaturkan pertemuan kedua-dua saudara yang terpisah selama 30 tahun itu.

GREEN has become an almost holy word as more and more people grow concerned about the planet we are leaving behind for future generations.

 

 What’s even more frightening is that we live in a consumerist world where the use-and-dispose culture has become the normal way businesses milk consumers for more money. Items are less durable and made of cheap, sometimes harmful substances to ensure it doesn’t last so we have to keep buying replacements. The items we discard end up rotting on landfills that grow larger and larger by the day. 

 

Let’s face it; we can’t all build recycling plants. And sometimes, the energy needed to recycle can defeat the purpose of the exercise. We don’t expect you to miraculously halve your trash by reusing items but the following tips and tricks could be useful and will help you save money.

 

Cardboard toilet paper rolls

 

Those round cardboard tubes left after you've finished up all the toilet paper can be used to carefully store away all your wires, candles or even stationary. You can also use it when you pack to keep certain items like pantyhose and socks to keep them from getting damaged. This means less buying of new panty-hose or wires and more money for real awesomeness.

 

CD cases

 

There are different types of CD cases. There are those for individual CDs, and the ones to keep multiple CDs. For the individual CDs, you can turn them into a calendar or even use it to keep petty cash notes. Just be sure to keep the CD case is kept in a secure place! Whereas for the multiple CD tower cases, you can use it to store cables or even bagels!

 

Boxes

 

Why buy more storage from Ikea when with a little creativity you could make your own! If you have wine boxes, or even any boxes that are similarly sized, you could turn them into a shoe rack. If you have tissue boxes, you can use them to keep all the plastic bags you may have lying around. Shoe boxes are also great to store almost anything! Create some dividers with some extra cardboard from other boxes and you can make a bento style container to keep your toiletries in.

 

Cans

 

Cans come in all kinds of sizes: tall ones, short ones, little one and large ones: perfect for storing all kinds of different sized knick-knacks. Bigger cans come in handy tostore pencils, stationary and anything else that is fitting. If you are the arty kind, decorate your cans with wrapping paper, coloured masking tape, or ribbons. You can even cut holes and designsin the cans to make a pretty tea light candle holder. As it can be tricky to cut holes through the cans, try pouring some water into the can and freeze it. This will make it easier to nail the holes in with a hammer.

 

Smaller cans are also perfect for making mini lanterns or use them to store smaller stationery bits such as paper clips, pins, brads or eyelets. Tuna and sardine cans may be tricky to get the smell out of but a few soaks and rinses should do the trick. Once you’ve done away with the fishy odours, you can use them to bake mini cakes in!

 

Yoghurt Containers

 

Yoghurt containers are pretty versatile, and they can come in various sizes depending on the type you buy. The bigger ones can be used as an extra container to store anything such as frozen items or even spices. You can even use it to store leftover food and give it to friends and family during a party or event. 

 

For the smaller, individual yoghurt containers, they can also be used as item holders, or even to portion control your snacks as you watch TV. If gardening is your thing;use them for planting seedlings.Just cut some holes at the bottom of the cup and you're done.

 For the past three years, the Dukan Diet had topped the chart, but this year’s new entry, the Breatharian Diet, has claimed the distinction of worst faddy weight-loss plan. Here’s the rundown: 

1. Breatharian diet – Skip meals and even water and just breathe air; at least that’s the premise of this fad. While not wildly dissimilar to Madonna’s alleged Air diet, this diet comes with serious health risks. 

2. Biotyping – This diet claims to reduce body fat in trouble zones by balancing hormones. Famous followers include Boy George, but BDA experts warn that the plan’s “supplements and pseudo-science” make it worth skipping. 

3. Gluten-free diet – While Gwyneth Paltrow reportedly eschews gluten, the BDA says that while “important for those with coeliac disease or gluten sensitivity, there is no credible published research showing that a gluten-free diet leads to weight loss in other people.” Of course, trimming back on breads, pastries, and cakes certainly won’t hurt your waistline, but gluten-free doesn’t mean calorie-free. 

4. Alcorexia/Drunkorexia diet – Basically, a diet based on alcohol and little else. Followers “save up” their caloric intake from food for binge-drinking madness at parties.

5. Dukan Diet – The famous protein-heavy Dukan Diet, popularised by celebrities such as Carol Middleton (mom to Kate Middleton), Jennifer Lopez and Gisele Bundchen, is confusing, time consuming, rigid, and hard to sustain, the BDA claims. Side effects are likewise unappealing, with everything from lack of energy to constipation and bad breath.

Russia launches rocket carrying 3 astronauts and Olympic torch

Russia on Thursday launched into space a trio of Russian, Japanese and US astronauts carrying an unlit Olympic torch that will for the first time be taken on a spacewalk to mark the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi. The Soyuz-FG rocket and Soyuz-TMA capsule, emblazoned with the symbols of the Sochi Games and the Olympic rings, blasted off from Russia's Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan for the International Space Station (ISS) at 8:14 am Moscow time (0414 GMT).
The Soyuz-TMA capsule carrying NASA astronaut Rick Mastracchio, Russia's Mikhail Tyurin and Japan's Koichi Wakata then docked with the ISS slightly ahead of schedule after four orbits of the Earth just over six hours later, the Russian space agency Roscomos said. "The Soyuz TMA-11M manned capsule docked successfully with the ISS at 14:27 Moscow time (10:27 GMT)," Roscosmos said. The astronauts are set to open their hatch and go through into the ISS at around 4:40 pm Moscow time (12:40 GMT).

In an unprecedented move, two Russian cosmonauts who are already on board the ISS are set to take the torch on a space walk from 1430 GMT on Saturday aimed at promoting the Sochi Games. Russian officials have made it clear that the torch will remain unlit at all times for safety reasons. The cosmonauts will hold a photo session in open space with the torch, which will be tethered with a special strap, and then carry out essential work. 

The torch will spend more than five hours outside the ISS. "We all understand and have a responsible attitude because the torch is a symbol and therefore it needs to be treated with respect and maybe even reverence," cosmonaut Tyurin said ahead of the launch in televised comments. The Olympic torch was carried into space ahead of the 1996 and 2000 Olympics in Atlanta and Sydney but has never before been taken on a spacewalk.

However, Russia's efforts to promote the Sochi Games as a symbol of its post-Soviet transformation have been tarnished by rows over a law seen as anti-gay as well as allegations of corruption in the vast construction needed for the event. Polar bear Sochi talisman

On the ISS, the newly arrived astronauts will join six incumbent crew, station commander Fyodor Yurchikhin of Russia and flight engineers Karen Nyberg of NASA, Italy's Luca Parmitano, Russian Oleg Kotov, NASA's Mike Hopkins and Russian Sergei Ryazansky. 

After a brief stay on the ISS, the torch will then be taken back to Earth by the three astronauts now finishing their five-and-a-half-month mission on the ISS. They are due to touch down in Kazakhstan on Monday at 0250 GMT. The same torch will later be used to light the Olympic flame at the Fisht stadium in Sochi for the opening ceremony of the Games on February 7.

In a spectacular torch relay, Russia last month took a lit Olympic torch to the North Pole on a nuclear-powered icebreaker. The high-profile Olympics mission comes as Russia seeks to prove that its mostly Soviet-designed systems are reliable enough to continue humans' conquest of space

The 2011 retirement of the US Space Shuttle programme made the Soyuz -- whose basic principles are little changed since the first manned spaceflight by Yuri Gagarin in 1961 -- the world's last remaining manned link with the ISS. But Russia has been recently blighted by a string of space failures that include the July 2 explosion shortly after take-off from Baikonur of an unmanned Proton-M rocket.
In an apparent response to the problems, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on October 10 fired the head of the state space agency Roscomos, Vladimir Popovkin, after just two-and-a-half years in the job. Oleg Ostapenko, previously deputy defence minister, was appointed the new Roscosmos chief.

J.Lo nafikan buat pembedahan plastik!

Diva Hollywood terbaru yang dikatakan melakukan pembedahan plastik bagi mengekalkan paras rupa jelita beliau, Jennifer Lopez, beria menafikan dakwaan tersebut menerusi laman Twitter beliau.

Ura-ura tersebut timbul apabila seorang doktor pakar bedah dari London, Dr Ayham Al-Ayoubi mengatakan wajah penyanyi berusia 44 tahun tersebut menunjukkan banyak tanda-tanda dibedah. Dr Ayham siap meletakkan dua gambar sebelum dan selepas pembedahan Jennifer Lopez yang tampak berbeza. Menurut Dr Ayham, J.Lo memang sudah cantik semulajadi namun setelah pembedahan, beliau nampak lebih menarik.

Setelah J.Lo menafikan pernah melakukan pembedahan plastik, Dr Ayham segera membuat sebuah tweet memohon maaf atas kesilapan beliau. Begitulah, Dr Ayham. Ada sahaja manusia yang memang lahir cantik.

New album leaked, Lady Gaga hints at show from space

Lady Gaga is streaming her new album a week early after leaks, but she hinted Wednesday at an out-of-this-world publicity splash with its official launch -- a concert in space. The multi-platinum-selling pop diva's third album, "Artpop," went up without warning on iTunes after a trickle of leaks in recent days on the Internet. The first official release was Wednesday in Japan. 

But the rarely subtle singer gave fans another reason to wait for the album's official international launch on Sunday. Us Weekly magazine reported that Lady Gaga would become the first singer to perform in outer space. "Find out if the rumors are true. 11.10 LIVE from ARTPOP's album launch," she teased on Twitter. The magazine said that Lady Gaga plans a month of special vocal training to perform in early 2015 aboard the Virgin Galactic, the passenger spaceplane being launched by British billionaire Richard Branson to popularize space tourism.

Lady Gaga will perform one song on the spaceship during the Zero G Colony high-tech festival in New Mexico, the magazine said. In "Artpop," Lady Gaga returns to the danceable synthpop of her massively successful 2008 debut album "The Fame" after experimenting with other styles on her second album, "Born This Way." She had initially appealed to her fans to stop early leaks of the new album's first single, "Applause."

In an interview published in Britain's Daily Mail, Lady Gaga said that the album examined the relationship between music and pop culture, aiming for the opposite effect of iconic pop artist Andy Warhol. "The intention of the album was to put art culture into pop music, a reverse of Warhol. Instead of putting pop onto the canvas, we wanted to put the art onto the soup can," she said in the interview.

Last month, fellow pop singer Katy Perry similarly released her new album, "Prism," after leaks.

Danish revellers told hanged man was Halloween prank

Danish police on Wednesday apologised for refusing to believe a woman who found the body of a hanged man the night after Halloween. Pernille Sundwall, 19, was on her way to a bar with her friends last Friday when she spotted the body outside the train station in Hilleroed, 30 kilometres (18 miles) northwest of Copenhagen.

"Two hundred metres in front of us we saw a guy sitting with his back to us against a fence, in a very strange position," she told AFP Wednesday. "We went up to him to ask if he was okay. When we stood right in front of him and looked him in the face we noticed a string around his neck, and realised he wasn't alive and had hanged himself," she said. She quickly called the police, who told her that what she was looking at was just a Halloween doll.

"I told him Halloween was the day before," Sundwall said, but was unable to convince the person on the other end of the line, who instead asked her to reach out and touch the body to confirm that it was just a doll. "I told him I was approaching it and that I was standing close, but that I didn't dare touch it, that I felt very uncomfortable and afraid," she said. "But he told me again that it was just a doll, and that we could continue into town and enjoy ourselves," she added.

Despite being afraid, the three women eventually "tried to lift his arm and even touched his lips," confirming what they already knew. Saliva was coming out of the man's mouth and his eyes were glazed over. "My friends were panicking and cried a lot, but nobody stopped to see if anything was wrong," Sundwall said. After repeated phone calls, two volunteers from Natteravnene, an organisation working against youth violence and anti-social behaviour, called the police twice before they finally came. 

"In Denmark, more and more has been made out of Halloween, which unfortunately has affected our judgement in this context," North Zealand chief superintendent Flemming Drejer told AFP. In addition to apologising, the police had offered the three women counselling, he said. Drejer said there was "no crime" behind the man's death. "It's a tragic incident, and out of respect for the dead man's family I don't want to go into any details of the death."

Sibuk ambil gambar sambil memandu boleh mati!

Kita sedia maklum bahawa menggunakan telefon sambil memandu boleh mengganggu tumpuan dan menyebabkan kemalangan membawa maut, namun kali ini kerana terlalu sibuk ambil gambar sendiri dengan telefon pintar ataupun “selfie” lagi berbahaya.

CNN baru-baru ini melaporkan bahawa kemalangan jalan raya merupakan penyebab utama kematian remaja dan kemalangan tersebut biasanya disebabkan tumpuan si pemandu remaja terganggu. Dan siapa lagi yang lebih taksub dengan mengambil “selfie” selain remaja? Ada sahaja orang dewasa yang sempat bergambar sambil tunggu lampu merah namun ada benarnya jika kita letakkan ke tepi telefon pintar sambil memandu.

Bukan setakat membahayakan nyawa sendiri si pemandu, malah boleh membahayakan pengguna jalan raya lain. CNN turut cadangkan mungkin satu-satu cara untuk tamatkan fenomena selfie sambil memandu adalah dengan undang-undang lebih ketat serta hukuman yang jauh lebih berat berbanding saman.

Mungkin penjara? Jadikan pengajaran. Selfie boleh diambil apabila sudah sampai destinasi anda.

Malaysia's Medini plans $800 mln public listing.

Government-linked township developer Medini Iskandar Malaysia hopes to raise 2.5 billion ringgit ($800 million) in an initial public offering early next year, a report said on Thursday. The IPO, reported by The Star newspaper, would be the country's largest since palm oil giant Felda Global Ventures raised $3.25 billion in June 2012.

Medini oversees a special economic zone in the heart of the ambitious Iskandar development project in southern Johor province. Medini has said its site has an expected gross development value of more than $21 billion over 20 years. Company officials could not immediately be reached for comment. Iskandar is a huge development project intended to mesh Johor's economy more tightly with that of affluent neighbour Singapore.

However, recent reports have said Iskandar Waterfront Holdings, a privately owned developer, was planning to delay a $300 million stock listing by a year to the end of 2014 due to concerns over government measures to cool property demand. Southeast Asia's third-largest economy, Malaysia saw a flurry of big listings last year, led by Felda, that helped its stock exchange become the world's fifth-largest IPO market in 2012.

The pace slackened this year due to caution ahead of May elections narrowly won by Malaysia's long-ruling coalition, but has recently picked up again. UMW Oil and Gas Corp raised $740 million last week in Malaysia's largest IPO this year, following July's $309 million listing of budget airline AirAsia X and leading Malaysian ports operator Westports Holdings' $640 million IPO last month.

Sovereign wealth fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad is expected to announce a listing to raise at least $3 billion in 2014, according to unconfirmed reports.
