KUALA LUMPUR: The policeman who is wanted for the murder of N. Dhamendran while in custody, has surrendered to the police after six weeks in hiding.
City deputy CID chief Asst Comm Khairi Ahrasa confirmed that the fugitive cop, Insp S. Hare Krishnan surrendered at 10.30am at the Bukit Aman police headquarters here Monday.
It is learnt that Insp Hare Krishnan was brought to Dang Wangi district police headquarters and is expected to be charged tomorrow.
Dhamendran was arrested on May 11 on suspicion of attempted murder involving firearms and remanded from May 12 until his death on May 21.
The post-mortem examination conducted at the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital on May 22 showed that the cause of death was diffused soft tissue injuries due to multiple blunt force trauma.
Three police officers were charged for his murder while Insp Hare Krishnan went into hiding on June 15.
