TAPAH: Sixty-six students from SM Sains Tapah were sent to the Tapah Hospital here yesterday after they came down with suspected food poisoning.
Of these, 25 were Form Three students who had to take their Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) examination in the hospital. It is learnt that the students had complained of feeling unwell several hours after having chicken kurma for dinner at the school dining hall on Wednesday.
Chenderiang state assemblyman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon visited the students at the hospital yesterday evening. When contacted, Dr Mah said all but three of the students were allowed to return to their school after receiving treatment.
"The three students (who were warded) are in stable condition," he said. Meanwhile, state Health Committee chairman Nolee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi said the cause of the food poisoning incident was being investigated.
