[UPDATED] Najib And Prince Of Cambridge Sharing The Limelight Of 'July 23'
KUALA LUMPUR: While the world welcomed Prince William and Katherine Middleton's much anticipated heir to the British throne just a few hours ago, a prominent Malaysian also shares the limelight as he celebrates his 60th birthday today. Taking into account the time difference between England and Malaysia, it can be said that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the royal baby share the same birthday. William and Kate's son made his appearance at 4pm London time, which makes it 12am Malaysian time, July 23. With both born towards the cusp of Leo, both share the same star sign of Cancer, making their key characteristics loving, sympathetic, and faithful. One would also wonder if the newborn would go on to support Manchester United like Najib when his father (William) is an avid supporter of Aston Villa. Perhaps the last attribute mentioned of being a Cancer, best reflects Najib's personality as he has been faithful to Barisan Nasional (BN) all his life, and has been married to Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor since 1987, a marriage that is entering its 26th year, and still going on strong. Najib was born today, 60 years ago in Kuala Lipis, Pahang and is former Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak and Tun Rahah's first-born. Najib was educated at Kuala Lumpur's prestigious St John's Institution before attending Malvern College in England and later receiving his bachelor's degree in industrial economics from the University of Nottingham.

Well-wishes are pouring in, mostly via his Twitter and Facebook account, with most Malaysians wishing him good health and that he always be kept in God's good grace. Indie film director and writer Amir Muhammad also took to wishing happy birthday to the Prime Minister on Twitter, alongside Kedah Gerakan youth chief Tan Keng Liang who expressed gratitude over the success of 1Malaysia. Perhaps what can be said for the royal baby is that if dates could be an indication of how one would turn out, the little bundle of joy can expect to be a hardworking, non-relenting and always looking to serve the people. While a name has not been picked yet, it is highly unlikely for the baby to be called Prince Najib, although that would be a rather unique idea having a little Najib running around in the Buckingham Palace. Najib meanwhile has sent out a congratulatory tweet to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, welcoming their baby boy into the world.

Happy birthday Datuk Seri Najib Razak from all of us at Malaysian Digest, and welcome to the world little Prince No-Name-Yet.
