KUALA LUMPUR: The bus in the Genting bus crash will be taken apart and investigations will only be concluded once the experts involved are clear with the cause of the accident.
Bentong OCPD Superintendent Mohd Mansor Mohd Nor said now that the bus had been lifted, PUSPAKOM and JPJ Engineers would get to work to identify the cause.
"Following that, we will allow MIROS and a chemical team from forensics," he said. Mansor said he was unsure as to how long the investigations would take as that was entirely up to the experts involved in the investigation.
"We however believe that it can be concluded by today after which the bus will be brought to the Bentong police headquarters for a final evaluation,
"Some of the things that will be inspected would be the road-worthiness of the vehicle and the functions of the brake and tyres," he said to reporters at the scene.
He added that once the investigations were concluded, the K9 team along with the Vat69 and PGA would comb the area to make sure that nothing was left out.
"We will allow the roads to be used as soon as the investigations are done, however the final call is by the Genting management,
"We believe they would like to upgrade the safety features along these roads and fix the damage caused by the crash," he added. The operation to bring up the bus involved 70 police officers along with members from the fire and rescue department as well as the JPJ forensics team.
"We are not going to rush the investigation as we want everyting to be done cautiously," he added.
