Genting bus crash: Road downhill closed for rescue operations
.PETALING JAYA: The road heading downhill from the Chin Swee Caves Temple in Genting Highlands has been closed due to rescue operations over the Wednesday bus crash. A Genting Malaysia Berhad spokesman said that the two-lane uphill road heading to the tourist resort had been divided into two to enable two-way traffic. "The downhill road from the Chin Swee Temple is closed. The uphill road has been divided into two sections - one for going up and one for going down," the spokesman said. The spokesman said departing motorists could still use the downhill road to leave the area, but had to go through the Chin Swee Temple. From there, they could rejoin the uphill road and make their way out of the area. Speaking on the crash, the spokesman said Genting Malaysia Berhad offered its deepest sympathies to the victims. A bus with 49 people on board went out of control and plunged into a 30m ravine around 3pm. So far, 33 are feared dead in the incident.
