IPOH: A 30-year-old housewife was charged at a Magistrate's Court on Tuesday for abusing and causing grievous hurt to her five-year old daughter.
Choong Mee Chin claimed trial to both charges.
She was charged under Section 31 (1) of the Child Act 2001 and under Section 325 of the Penal Code.
Choong allegedly abused the girl at the living room of her house in Menglembu on 12 Aug at about 9am by hitting her head and body using a cane.
Magistrate Suhaima Mohd Noor fixed bail at RM10,000 with one surety and requested the accused to be sent to Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta for observation for a month.
Suhaima also ordered Choong to stay away from the victim or her bail would be terminated.
